It has autumnal and warm notes of praline and lightly toasted hazelnuts on the nose. The palate is rich and generous, with a lively freshness on the long finish. The millésime is golden in appearance. Initially, the nose shows subtle toasted and smoked notes with a touch of liquorice alongside fruity notes of apricot, blackthorn, quince and fresh almonds. The palate is mineral and taut with excellent freshness, with notes of quince, vanilla and peaches on the mid-palate, followed by a crisp finish. Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, the original ‘Champagne Charlie’, the foundation of its modern fame rests on the unrivalled quality of its wines, which receive countless awards and accolades year after year. This success is attributable to the strength and depth of their winemaking team over the past three decades: Daniel Thibault, Régis Camus, Thierry Roset and Cyril Brun have between them been awarded ‘Sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine Challenge 14 times. A series of hailstorms, rains, and cold snaps during flowering in spring followed by a heat wave and water stress reduced yields by 30%.
