The 18-acre site is a monopole (monopoly in French) in that unlike so many vineyards in Burgundy it has not been broken up into smaller parcels via the inheritance laws. The vineyard produces three red wines – the grand cru, Clos de Tart; what is effectively the second wine, La Forge de Tart and a village wine. La Forge (named after the original 12th century name for the site) is made from a portion of the harvest that is declassified as premier cru, typically from the younger vines.
