This means that wine has been in the family for nearly 5 centuries – it has even become an unchanging tradition.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eToday, Rémy Gresser cultivates a little over 10 hectares around Andlau on beautiful schist, sand, and clay terroirs. His plots are located in the three Grand Crus of the commune: Kastelberg, Wiebelsberg, and Moenchberg.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHaving been at the head of the estate since 1977, Rémy Gresser sums himself up in one short sentence: “I cultivate the vine according to the rule of our ancestors; I feel like a farmer and artisan of the vine.” His wines, always well-rated by critics, elegantly illustrate this winegrower’s passion for Alsace and its terroirs.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis wine comes from 23-year-old vines planted on a unique blend of “Villé’s” schist and limestone soil, with an eastern exposure. The vineyard is farmed using biodynamic practices that incorporate compost, organic manure, and plowing. The grapes were hand-harvested at their peak ripeness. After a gentle pneumatic pressing, the juice was cold-settled for 36 hours.
