In fact, none other than the esteemed Jancis Robinson has referred to the wines of Barbeito as “the Lafite of Madeira.â€?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe 1978 Barbeito Sercial was aged in old French oak casks since February 1979 and bottled in December of 2003. Deep amber in color with a mesmerizing nose of orange peel, almond and smoke. On the palate the wine features a razor-like acidity with a medium body. This Sercial is filled with energy and packs intense flavors of tangerine, clove and walnut. The finish is long and airy.
