It is made by the indigenous grape Baga, the flagship variety of the region, aged for 24 months in 50% new French barriques.Baga’s small berries and thick skins make for intense, tannic wines. This wine is a strong representation of the Bairrada region and the Baga grape.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e Tasting Notes Intense ruby colour with garnet highlights. On the nose the wine shows Atlantic characteristics, including balsamic nuances of resin and cedar, as well as iodine and salty sensations. It has a large structure on the palate, with excellent tannins, and a high potential for ageing. The wine is notable for its weight, opulent black fruits, fresh acidity, and smooth texture, which ends with dry tannins and a fruity tang.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e Serving and Food Pairing Serve at a temperature of 16°C to 18ºC and pair with savoury meat and game dishes as well as Italian cuisine.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMessias was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973.
