The grapes that make this wine were sourced from San Carlos vineyard on the Viu Manent estate.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe producer â€?\/h2\u0026gt;\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eViu Manent was founded in 1935 by Miguel Viu Garcia and his sons Agustin and Miguel Viu Manent. They are one of the longest established producers in the region and own their own vineyards in Colchagua including the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco bought in 1966. The estate included 150 hectares of noble, pre-phylloxera vines.The Colchagua Valley is located in the south of the Rapel Valley in central Chile is 140 kilometres south of Santiago and is one of Chile’’s most well-known wine regions particularly for full-bodied red wines. The vineyards benefit from cool seas breezes and sharp diurnal temperature differences which help to retain acidity and freshness which allows the red grapes to develop slowly improving their flavour and colour. Historically vineyards were planted on the gentler slopes but newer plantings are on steeper gradients. Viu Manent’’s San Carlos vineyard is located here.
