Sans This family-run distillery inLannepax continues the pursuit of soft and approachable vintage-dated Armagnacs capable of long maturations. Two alembics are employed, one of which is a Sier dating from 1900. Both are column stills equipped with ‘spider platesâ€? ideal for the production of Armagnacs that age gracefully. While most fruit is sourced from the family’s66 hectare vineyard in Bas Armagnac (of which 6 hectares are organic), this expression, simply labelled ‘Vieilâ€? presumably includes fruit from other regions in greater Armagnac. Grape varieties remain true to tradition, including Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Folle-Blanche and Baco. Typically aged for between 5 to 15 years, but sometimes much longer, almost any of Delord’s vintage-dated offerings will make fine digestifs, pairing beautifully with a cigar, coffee and desserts, as well as specialties such as foie gras and fish snacks. 40% Alc./Vol.
