Sans Pol Roger Vintage Champagne has a long association with Nicks Wine Merchants. We first started selling the 1971 Vintage at $9.95 and sold bucketloads of this classic wine. The grapes are sourced from 18 Grand and Premier Cru sites and consist of a blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir. The 1988 Vintage was considered to be excellent due to the successful flowering and a sun-filled summer. Bright pale straw colour with a good mousse and fine profuse bead. The nose is outstanding with strong yeasty aromas and considerable complexity due to bottle development. The palate displays delightful yeasty, creamy flavours with crisp acid finish. An excellent example and certainly worthy of cellaring to the end of the century.
