Sans Clynelish of this ilk is very, very rare, so no wonder it was one of the first Dalswintons to sell out at Claxton’s. Situated on the North East coast of Scotland, the distillery is renowned for creating a truly unique, rich, waxy distillate. This bottling is said to be true to form, with that distinctive waxy profile still present after thirty years, yet bursting with fresh stone fruits. Importantly, it’s matured in a Bourbon Barrel, which in our opinion best suits Clynelish. The image on the decanter is linked to John “The Redâ€?Comyn. It is recorded in local folklore that, in 1306, Comyn sunk his treasure in Comyn’s Pool on the Dalswinton Estate just before meeting his death during a confrontation with Robert the Bruce, the future King of Scotland. 44.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
