Sans 1995 was a great vintage in Margaret River -producing a run of extraordinary wines, with possibly the 1995 Cullens Cabernet being the pick of the vintage. The dry vintage conditions produced low concentrated yields which in turn produced highly concentrated wines. Opaque deep crimson colour.An exceptionally complex nose with a powerfulgroup of aromas quickly emerging, cedar, coffee, tobacco, truffle, liquorice, spice and earthy leather, followed finally by a mint end note. The palate is filled with rich concentrated flavours, initially dominated by an earthy mint flavour over chocolate and gradually revealing layers of cedar, truffle, coffee and spice over concentrated tannins. The wine has wonderful persistence with exceptionally long aftertaste of liquorice earth and mint.A departure is style from the 1991, 1992 and 1993 vintages in that its less Bordeaux in its style and more a reflection of its own terroir. A collectors must – cellar 8-10 years.
