Sans “The 1998 vintage culminated in one of the latest harvests we’ve had in years,â€?reported David Akiyoshi, Director of Winemaking for Woodbridge Winery. “We finished picking our grapes from the Lodi region on November 7th. It was an interesting year, challenging at times, but the weather became increasingly better as the growing season progressed. Warm sunny fall days provided us with excellent ripening conditions and we achieved fully mature flavors and excellent sugar to acid balance in the grapes. Our yields were smaller than average on many varieties due to cool, wet weather during bloom and berry set. The small crop had great concentration of flavors, giving our Chardonnay lush fruit character.â€?/p>
