Sans A classy Merlot with a well defined structure. Too many Australian Merlots are made to a formula which compromises complexity in order to deliver a simple, quaffable, easy drinking red. Instead Yangarra have pursued a wine with a lot more flavour than the norm. Almost opaque, black crimson colour. Superb nose of mulberry, cedar and spice with distinct primary fruit character without the usual earthy layer. Mouthfilling palate, with flavours of spice, mulberry and liquorice. Excellent palate weight and velvet smooth tannins, followed by a very long mulberry, liquorice and spice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3years. (2004-2005)Alc./Vol.13.5%
