Sans Produced from vines planted in 1867 by Henry Best in the Concongella vineyard, this is a serious collectors wine. Its classic elegance and refinement will come as a surprise to younger wine lovers who have been nurtured on fruit bombs. This is not one of those wines. Medium body �deep crimson mauve colour with with crimson mauve hue. The colour is holding up very well and indicates a wine of serious structure. Perfumed nose �top note of violets followed by plum, spice and blackberry with a touch of raspberry as an end note �a superb sniff. The palate reflects the nose showing the refinement that comes from fruit grown on old vines and sourced from a relatively cool Shiraz growing district. Excellent length and depth with flavours of blackberry, confectionary, spice and black pepper emerging supported by very fine grained tannins. Perfect balance.
