Sans Brokenwood has a colourful history, which involves three wine personalities, James Halliday, John Beeston and Tony Albert. Ten acres of land was purchased in 1970 for what was then a record price of $970 per acre. The land was originally destined to be a cricket pitch. A relatively austere wine that could be mistaken for a crisp Italian Pinot Grigio. Bright pale straw colour with water like hue. Delicate nose with confectionary top notes, followed by a light citrus and grassy end note. The palate flavours are light, with citrus and tropical fruit flavours evident and in need of time to develop a layer of complexity. Clean, crisp acid finish. Youthful citrus aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2011) Alc/Vol: 10.5%
