Sans Josef Chromy is a post war success story, having fled hiswar torn Czech village in 1950 as a penniless 20 year old. Over the years,Josef built an empire in Tasmania with a chain of butcher shops and abattoirs.In 1994, his company diversified into the wine industry, acquiring Heemskirk,Rochecombe and Buchannan Vineyards. He later established Tamar Ridge.He has since sold these vineyards to focus on the Josef Chromy Estate, located south of Launceston.
