Sans In 2002 we tasted the inaugural release of “Mr.Riggs” Shiraz, which we described as “destined to become a new cult wine”. In a relatively short time, this wine has earned an enviable reputation, keenly anticipated by wine lovers around the world, with some vintages selling out within weeks. Riggs’flagship expression blends fruit from four great McLaren Vale Shiraz vineyards. For 2008, each component finished fermentation in oak of which approximately 80% was French and the balance American, 40% of which was new oak. Parcels of fruit from the various vineyards were kept separate during fermentation and maturation until finally being blended three months prior to bottling.
