Sans Brett Grocke is a 5th generation Barossan whose family have farmed and owned vineyards since the mid 1850’s. His day job is in viticulture managing around 14 vineyards across the Barossa and Eden Valleys and having just built a 50 tonne winery at Krondorf his hands are also full as a winemaker. Sourced from the Magnolia Road vineyard which includes plantings from 1896, 1965, 1996 and 2010, the Eperosa wines employ varying amounts of full bunch ferment which impart some smoky clove like characters. Some tasters might find these characteristics a distraction or a little too much (similar to the tobacco characters in Carmenere), but we feel if not overdone they can add some additional complexity and interest to Barossa’s trademark opulent richness.
