Sans The DJW vineyard was planted by John and son Daniel Wilson in 1997. At the time, the aim was to produce additional fruit for the successful Wilson Polish Hill River Riesling but the vineyard had other ideas. From the first vintage it was immediately obvious that the DJW vineyard was quite different from the Polish Hill River vineyard. The grapes and bunches were larger and the vineyard produced a spectrum of flavours that had their own unique qualities. As a consequence a new Riesling was born and was named after the single vineyard from where it originates, the DJW.
