Syrah vines are planted on Waiheke Island, with an average vine age of 25 years. These vines produce low yields of 25-35 hL/Ha, and all grapes are hand-harvested to ensure quality. Small-batch fermentation and is pressed directly to barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 30% of the barrels being new. Pilgrim was New Zealand’s first wine ever made with the classic ‘GSMâ€?Rhône blend. Aromas of black plum and blueberry with hints of violets and spice. Concentrated on the palate with ripe tannins well-balanced by a soft acidity and a long finish.
