Sourced from The Riversdale vineyard planted in 1997, this excellent blend was matured for a period of 10 months in a combination of new and 1-2 year old French oak barrels.Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Elevated scents of blackcurrant, plum and red liquorice fill the nostrils complimented by spicy vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco and dried herb notes. Rich blackcurrant, fleshy plum and ripe mulberry fruits are delivered with excellent intensity across the mid weighted palate. Some red liquorice, cedary tobacco, earthy dried herb and spice elements also chime in. Sturdy tannin structure with a long deeply fruited finish that has a bright robust feel to it.Drink over the next 4-5 years.Alc. 14.5%
