La Brune has access to some of the highest elevated vineyards in Elgin, South Africa, at 300-350 metres above sea level. The Chardonnay is sourced from clones CY95 and CY277, with grapes from vines over 15 years old, hand-harvested. Whole-bunch pressing with minimal settling. The first 30% of fermentation takes place in tank before being transferred to barrel. Fermentation is spontaneous, using 500L and 228L Burgundian oak barrels, 5% of which are new, for a period of 7 months. Fresh, pure and clean with aromas of citrus, apples and pears and mineral notes. Light to medium-bodied with a long clean finish.
