Produced by a family-run brewery based in the town of Akashi, not far from Kobe and Osaka, which has been producing sake and fruitliqueursfor over 140 years, sake is a traditional Japanese drink considered to be the drink of the gods. It is made from different varieties of rice, in this case Gohyakumangoku. Honjozo Genshu has a very mineral profile with umami aromas (the fifth fundamental taste in Japanese, translated as ‘savoury’), which reveal its sweetness and sugary notes on the finish. Enjoy it chilled or warm, paired with seafood!
