Amiral is the second wine of acclaimed Saint-Julien fourth growth Château Beychevelle. Sharing the same winemaking and viticultural team as the Grand Vin, Amiral is crafted from a range of dedicated plots with an average vine age of 35 years. This imbues the red with its own distinct identity, sharing a house style yet offering so much more than a product of the Grand Vin’s castoff juice. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot aged in 35% new French oak, the 2018 Amiral is an elegant and stylish red deemed by the estate as their greatest ever vintage. Expect aromas of violets, blackberries, and soft spices, followed by a palate defined by wonderfully silky tannins and fresh fruit flavours. In a word, gorgeous.
