The 2006 is seen as a classic Solaia, with potential for further aging. A blend primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller portions of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Solaia is one of Italy’s most prestigious wines, produced by the Antinori family, who have a long history of making world-class wines.
Tasting Notes:The 2006 Solaia offers a deep, rich nose of black currant, dark cherry, and hints of tobacco, leather, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with velvety tannins and balanced acidity, revealing layers of ripe dark fruit, cedar, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. The finish is long and complex, showcasing its excellent aging potential.
Serving & Food Pairing:Best served at 18-20°C. Decanting for 1-2 hours before serving will help to open up the wine’s full complexity. Pair with hearty dishes like grilled steaks, roast lamb, or braised beef. It also complements rich pasta dishes such as Bolognese or wild mushroom risotto. For cheese, try pairing with aged Parmigiano Reggiano or pecorino.
