Sans Resembles bright polished copper in the glass. The nose is noticeably less sweet than the rest of the Balcones on offer and comes across quite Bourbon like with its strong vanillin oak, water biscuit opening whiff. There are hints of orange zest and confectionary (gobstopper) here too. The palate unfolds in similar fashion offering fine tuned, bitter sweet flavours of caramel, drying oak and a faintly oily texture, followed by a drier still, gently tannic aftertaste with hints of vanilla and confectionary persisting. 53% Alc./Vol. 2013 batch tasted.
