Vieilles Vignes Françaises 2013 is an assembly of 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir grown in two clos within the village of Aÿ. These two vineyard parcels – Chaudes Terres and Clos St Jacques – somehow survived phylloxera, the ungrafted vines giving us a rare snapshot of the history of the region, before the ruinous aphid devasted the region’s vineyards in the 19th century. Bollinger has only created the Vieille Vignes Françaises as an individual cuvée since 1970 and it is a representation of a bygone era – reminiscent, extraordinary, and moving.

Fermentation occurs entirely in old barrels. Only 2477 bottles of this exclusive champagne were produced. Over the years, its uniqueness and scarcity have made it one of the most sought-after champagnes.
