AnAlsatianwinemaker who has fallen in love with South Africa, Julien Shaal has teamed up with Gordon Newton Johnsonn, who runs the ‘Born of fire’ vineyard, located less than 40 km from the ocean and benefiting from a Mediterranean climate, and certifiedorganic . Here, Julien produces quality wines that express the terroir, favouring the positive interactions between soil, climate and plants, and retaining as much of the wine’s minerality and freshness as possible. The result is a Chenin Blanc with a character of mango, papaya and dried lemon, with hints of stone and flowers. The palate is deep and complex, with a wonderful tension between tropical fruit, spicy oak and a delicate touch of pepper. The long finish is both brilliant and creamy.
