The By Farr GC Chardonnay 2023 is named as a tribute to Gary Charles, who co-founded the vineyard in 1994 with Robyn Farr, and is a celebration of everything he has provoked and achieved over 40 years. It is thanks to Gary that By Farr have been able to create a close planted / high density planting of Chardonnay on an exposed côte facing North, North East and East, which will be the backbone of the Farr dynasty for many years to come.

The fruit for this wine is hand-picked and then whole-bunch pressed in the winery. From here, all solids are collected and chilled, before being put to 50% French oak barrels. Natural fermentation will then occur over the next to months at cool temperature, and the wine is then gently stirred to allow malolactic fermentation to begin. The wine is then racked, fined and lightly filtered before being bottled 11 months after picking, and the perfect, complete Chardonnay is created.
