92/100 – The estate’s 2004 Lupicaia is a massive, densely structured wine loaded with dark fruit, sweet herbs, menthol and toasted oak. This powerful wine comes across as very shut down, yet it offers superb length and outstanding potential once the tannins begin to melt away. 17.5/20 – Deep garnet. Perfumed with the sweetness of red fruit, and a tang of sour cherry. Remarkably youthful with just a touch of undergrowth and leather. Juicy yet complex, with those lovely aged Sangiovese characteristics of dried cherry and sweet spice (not oak spice) and tobacco.
