A vintage that should have been relegated to oblivion by the effects of the climate: very variable, a cool summer, 100 mm of rain in August, bursting berries… except for a miraculous turnaround in the weather, favouring botrytis that would turn a handicap into a decisive advantage, thanks to the variety and complexity of the selection. A great vintage! Château d’Yquem delivers powerful flavours of tropical fruit – dried mango and pineapple – highlighted by acacia honey, toasted almonds and notes of smoke and lime. On the palate it seems to be one of those vintages that appears to be drier than it truly is, in large part thanks to its fresh and elegant backbone and mineral flavours, all ending in a tasty finish with a satiny texture. Hard to resist now, this is one of those vintages that can be predicted to age in the cellar not only for decades, but for generations…
