Despite spring rain and a dry summer, Château de Pitray 2020 was an early, warm vintage. Thanks to the clay-limestone soil, the vines avoided water stress and produced well-balanced fruit with excellent ripeness. When tasted, the warmth of the vintage is first felt, with aromas of black fruit and ripe tannins, before the terroir softens and moderates this expression. The wines of Château de Pitray are full-bodied, supple and refined. With aromas of candied fruit, dried figs and redcurrants, this first wine is surprisingly gourmet despite its feeling of great maturity. On the palate, thiswine offersa harmonious range of aromas with present but very velvety tannins.
