Neighbour ofCheval Blanc , Figeac continues to be the largest domaine of the town of Saint-Emilion with 40 hectares of vines. Château de Figeac has a completely different varietal mix due to a privileged gravel terroir: 70% Cabernet (halfCabernet Franc , halfCabernet Sauvignon ) and only 30%Merlot . This unusual aspect makes Figeac “the most Médoc of the Saint-Emilion domaines”. The wine is remarkable in all its expression: balance, freshness, perfect ripeness of the three grape varieties. The Cabernets express themselves through magnificent floral and fruit notes such as blueberry and wild strawberry. The greedy attack is dense. It continues harmoniously through a caressing mid-palate enveloped by the texture of the Merlot. The balance persists right through to the exceptionally long finish, where the fine, mineral texture of the Cabernets soars over a fruity freshness. A great Château-Figeac.
