“The wine of kings, the king of wines.” This motto is actually a coat of arms. It proudly displays the almost kinglike values of this cru. These 129 hectares are split with 84 being vineyards belonging to Château Gruaud-Larose, extending right to the south of Saint-Julien in one single massive and undulating block. Like its predecessors, this 2019 vintage shows itself to be a powerful wine with aromas of cherry, plum and freshly crushed blackcurrant with notes of violet, tea, aniseed, undergrowth and garrigue. On the palate, we find flavours of scented red fruit in a firm structure of ripe tannins with plenty of freshness and a long, perfumed finish.
