This vintage was divided into two ripening phases: the first was dry and hot, producing small, concentrated grapes rich in tannins; the second was cooler and slightly damp, allowing a gentle end to ripening, preserving freshness and softening the tannins. As a result, theMerlotgrapes are full-bodied and powerful, while the Cabernets have a longer, fresher style. The wine is a very dark red, almost black. The nose is expressive, with notes of black fruit (blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry) and some cherry. Then there is a great complexity of spices (cloves, cinnamon, liquorice) and hints of gunflint, very characteristic of the gravel. The palate is approachable, broad, powerful and dense, with a soft, caressing texture. The mid-palate is full and concentrated, with great length. A delightful combination of power, concentration, softness of texture! The aromas on the palate are very long, with a great deal of complexity, where the spices and empyreumatic notes of the terroir balance out the fruit notes. Elegance and softness do not exclude power.
