THE 1970 La Lagune is from exceptional provenance having been professionally stored since original purchase. Quite a deep garnet core. A surprisingly sweet, fragrant almost floral nose with notes of backed cherries and tar. The palate has sharp acidity, very fresh, well-knit with simple black fruits. Not a complex wine, but a testament to how well balanced, rather than powerful wines can age. Raisins on the finish. Impressive for a 1970. Neil Martin, Wine Journal

Château La Lagune is a distinguished wine estate situated in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, France. With a history dating back to the 16th century, the estate has garnered acclaim for its production of high-quality red wines. Encompassing approximately 80 hectares, the vineyard benefits from gravelly and sandy soils, ideal for nurturing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes. Château La Lagune’s wines are renowned for their elegance, complexity, and aging potential, showcasing ripe fruit flavors, refined tannins, and a distinctive Haut-Médoc character. Classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Cru) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the estate continues to maintain its legacy of excellence under the ownership of the Frey family. Château La Lagune stands as a testament to the rich heritage and tradition of winemaking in the Haut-Médoc region, producing wines that are celebrated by enthusiasts worldwide.
