Medium garnet-colored with considerable amber at the edge, the flavors were dry and angular, and there was considerable astringent tannin in the finish. Nevertheless, the bouquet was classic Pauillac and Lynch Bages – sweet and cedary, with plenty of herb-tinged black fruits, smoked meat, and game-like notes. It is a medium-bodied effort made in the old, elegant, slightly excessively tannic style of Bordeaux made during this period.

Château Lynch-Bages is an iconic wine estate located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France. With a history dating back to the 18th century, the estate has established itself as one of the leading producers of exceptional red wines. Encompassing approximately 100 hectares, the vineyard benefits from gravelly soils and a maritime climate, ideal for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. Château Lynch-Bages’s wines are celebrated for their power, depth, and aging potential, exhibiting rich fruit flavors, robust tannins, and a distinct Pauillac character. Classified as a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the estate continues to maintain its legacy of excellence under the ownership of the Cazes family. With a commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking practices, Château Lynch-Bages remains a symbol of the esteemed winemaking heritage of Bordeaux, producing wines that are revered by enthusiasts worldwide.
