Clos Otto Shiraz is the flagship wine of Hentley Farm. Born from one of the best terroirs in the Barossa Valley and made from old Shiraz clones, it embodies the excellence of greatAustralianreds. Yields are very low, harvesting is done by hand and the wine is crafted using traditional methods to preserve the heritage and character of the place. The wine is aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new, to balance the power of the fruit with a refined woody structure. It reveals a rich and opulent nose of ripe but not jammy fruit, cinnamon, cloves and well-integrated oak notes.The palate is concentrated and powerful, yet retains great elegance, with pronounced but well-balanced fruit. The tannins are firm and structured, coated with good acidity for freshness, and ending with a long and sustained finish. Powerful and refined, this is a surprisingly elegant wine despite its power.
