The cuvée La Chaintrée comes from low-yielding vines in the famed Les Poyeux sector, of Clos Rougeard renown. This rare terroir within Saumur-Champigny – combining clay with free-draining aeolian sands – is particularly well suited to Cabernet Franc. The wine was matured for three years in 500-litre French oak barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

91/100 – Matured for three years in oak barrels and unfiltered, the 2015 La Chaintrée reveals an earthy, deep bouquet of plums, licorice, oak, meat, spices and leather. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it has an impressive structure and a fleshy core of fruit framed by structured tannins and a long, chalky and strict finish.
