In the centre of the island of Korčula, the freshwater ponds that feed the vineyards in the village of Smokvica are a remarkable gift from nature. The vineyards are located on the outskirts of Smokvica, the birthplace of Pošip, the local whitegrape varietypar excellence. The local people have planted indigenous grape varieties on terraced fields carved out of the rocky hillsides, fed by stream water. Dalmatien Dog Pošip is a mineral, saline white wine with a strong bouquet of apple, pear, camomile flower and local herbs. On the palate, the wine is complex and rich, with a fresh, delicious finish.
