Widow’s Peak is one of the most exciting Pinot Noir’s we’ve made to date. The styling is wild and extreme for the Anderson Valley and the Widow’s Peak vineyard site sits next to Cakebread’s Annahala Ranch. The remote mystery of this storied coastal ridge and the hand-selected California Heritage Clones Calera, Mt. Eden, and Swan â€?carefully match clonal variety to the site. The wine is unrefined, unfiltered, barrel-aged in a consummation of Francois Freres and Ermitage French oak for 10 months and built for depth and concentration with nuance developing in maturity. An extraordinary wine.Tons of energy in this wine, hugely aromatic with purple fruit, plum jam, a bit of dark cocoa powder, sweet herb and tons of bright, focused flavors. Finishes with a touch of clove spice and even a bit of orange citrus.
