Sans Another in a series of ‘Port Broadsidesâ€? this single cask, triple matured rum is no less than ten and a half years old. Blended at birth from Foursquare’s pot and column stills and tropically aged in Barbados for eight years in ex-bourbon before being moved to Adelaide from some “Australian dry ageing.â€?Once there it was filled into sixty year old Seppeltsfield ex-Tawny cask for eight months before being transferred a third time to a high-char ex-bourbon barrel for another twenty two months. Seppeltsfield makes one of the world’s great dessert wines and here, the intense porty character is mellowed by the sweet soft ex-bourbon finish. Fat and buttery aromas and flavours extend to rich oak and ripe plums; A full bodied, viscous development of poached fruits laced with pepper and cinnamon are followed by dry molasses. Ends nicelybalanced and deceptively long. Despite being rummy, this also leaves the impression of a port matured single malt. 52% Alc./Vol.
