Gouttes d’Or, ‘drops of gold’, is the most Northern of the main Meursault 1er Cru. The Buisson Battault vines are in the top part of the vineyard, where the poor soil gives wines with a distinct mineral spine. The 2019 has a extremely focused nose full with spring flowers, dried thyme and crushed basil. There is also plenty of the ripe citrus fruits one would hope for. The palate has a palpable tension with zesty citrus, and rich peachy fruit. The finish is crisp, zingy and a little saline.
