The wine is bright and purple with blueish tints, with a fine complex nose of confit fruits, red and black currants and cherries suffused with peppery spices and notes of bay and clove. The feel of the wine in the mouth is fresh and lively and the tannins are fine and supple.

From the Languedoc region of France, on the border of France and Catalonia, the word Fitou means “border” which is appropriate. The regionis well renowned for the grape varietals Carignan and Grenache and this wine is a superb example of a blend of both.

Domaine de Roudene is run by the 3rd generation wine maker, Jean-Pierre Faixo.The winery is in thevillage of Paziols, north west of Perpignan.There are2 vineyards, one in Fitou and the other in Rivesaltes.

This wine a blend of 50% Carignan, 30% Grenache with about 20% Syrah. All the grapes are hand-harvested from low yields and enjoy a long maceration with the skins thereby extracting all the flavours.
