Ovide is the top wine from Domaine Pierre Morin, sourced from decades-old, gnarled vines found just a stone’s throw from their cellar near Sancerre. Named in honour of their shepherd neighbour who planted these vines back in the 1950s, these deeply rooted vines are grown in stony soils, contributing wonderful tension and length to the wine. Blended with Sauvignon grown in chalky soils to achieve a subtle richness on the palate, this is a superbly balanced Sancerre that sings of citrus fruit beautifully complemented by hints of nettle notes.
