Sans The Dunnet Bay distillery was established in 2014 in the far North of Scotland by husband and wife team, Martin and Claire Murray. Both pride themselves on using local hand-foraged botanicals alongside exotic ingredients from around the world. It was the inspiration behind their first product: Rock Rose Gin. The early batches sold out in a matter of days! What sets their product apart is that it’s the first gin to employ Rhodiola rosea in the mix. This unusual botanical grows on the local cliffs and reportedly gives the gin an earthy, Turkish delight flavour. Italian and Bulgarian juniper berries, rose root, sea buckthorn, rowan berries, blueberries, cardamom, coriander seed and verbena (many of which are grown in Scotland) are also included. The citrus and floral notes combine with a little sweetness from local berries. It all works together to make a deliciously distinctive gin. 41.5% Alc./Vol.
