Elio Grasso, 2018 Barolo “Gavarini Chiniera”

From one of Barolo’s most admired traditional estates, the 2018 Gavarini Chiniera is a refined and expressive single-vineyard Barolo from the Monforte d’Alba commune.

Tasting NoteThe nose is complex and lifted, offering aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and blood orange, layered with rose petal, liquorice, tar and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is poised and structured, with vibrant acidity carrying flavours of crimson fruit, dried herbs and mineral earthiness. Fine-grained tannins provide shape and persistence, leading to a long, savoury and finely balanced finish.

Food PairingA superb match for slow-braised beef, lamb, venison, truffle-led dishes and aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno.

Serving & CellaringServe at 16–18°C. Decant for 1–2 hours before drinking. Drinking well now with air, and will cellar confidently for 15–20 years.
