This is the estate Chardonnay from one of our newest producers, the pioneering Ernest Vineyards from the Sonoma Coast. Grown in cool-climate sites at the heart of the chilly Freestone Valley, this is a pale Chardonnay that impresses with its refreshing acidity and delicate mouthfeel.

93/100 �The 2021 Chardonnay Estate, from vineyards in Freestone, is terrific. Bright and effusive, with striking depth, the Estate is super-expressive right out of the gate. 93/100 �A blend of Joyce and Cleary Ranch, with two very distinct soils, a sandy loam at Joyce and a higher clay content at John Cleary Ranch. There are some climatic conditions that create more diversity. These differences have a distinction: the Joyce is mineral driven and lean, the Cleary site offers roundness and fleshy character from Cleary without high alcohol, and there is a sunkissed nature to the 22s given a heat spike near harvest 15 months elevage in 33% new oak and a sandstone amphora with half the porosity of oak.
