While Felton Road may be best recognised for producing some of the Antipode’s greatest Pinot Noirs, we think their Chardonnay more than matches up to its more famous red siblings. Grown around the small town of Bannockburn in Central Otago â€?New Zealand’s vinous sweet spot â€?the grapes were farmed organically and biodynamically, before undergoing natural fermentation in well-seasoned French oak (only 5% new). Loaded with delicious notes of citrus and stone fruit, this Chardonnay strikes that all-too-rare, wonderful balance between electrifying acidity and appealing palate weight that distinguishes the world’s greatest Chardonnays.
