This wine has an enticing nose of white peach and pear with hints of fresh lime and gooseberry. Fresh and zesty citrus notes and ripe peachy characters are balanced by crisp acidity and mineral notes leading to a textured complex finish. This wine comes from a recently planted vineyard, Nuovo Quadro, on Araldica’s La Battistina estate in the Gavi di Gavi region. The freshly picked grapes are gently crushed and subjected to a temperature controlled fermentation in small volume stainless steel tanks. The wine remains in contact with the lees for three to four months before being fined, filtered and bottled.

The La Battistina estate consists of 26ha of mature vineyard, including 5ha in Gavi del Comune di Gavi. The property was acquired by leading Piemonte producer Araldica in 2002. La Battistina is renowned as among the best sites in the commune of Gavi. The unique combination of limestone and clay soil allows full ripening of the local Cortese grape, which â€?together with vines of average age of thirty five years â€?gives complexity and weight to what is one of Italy’s most fashionable white wines. The estate is divided into distinct areas producing very different wines. The majority of grapes go to produce the unoaked ‘La Battistinaâ€? while ‘Nuovo Quadroâ€?comes from a small, plot at the foot of the Battistina hill which lies within the Comune di Gavi sub-zone.
