On the palate, the wine is wonderfully dry yet always juicy, offering plenty of red fruit and a playful finish. You can expect pronounced flavours of strawberries, raspberries, and red currants that impress with an incredibly delicate freshness.

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The Geil family’s winemaking tradition began in 1871 when Georg Geil acquired the ancestral home in Bechtheim. His son Johann, after whom the winery is named, was a visionary winemaker and a pioneer for bottled wine production in the region. Beyond his passion for wine, he was significantly involved in public welfare as a mayor and co-founder of various local institutions. For his diverse work, the Grand Duke of Hesse bestowed upon him the honorary title “Ökonomierat”.

Today, the winery is run by the third generation: Johannes and Elisabeth Geil-Bierschenk, along with Karl and Monika Geil-Bierschenk. Together with an experienced team, they preserve the legacy, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern, sustainable cultivation methods. The careful selection of grapes and precise cellar techniques guarantee wines of great clarity, elegance, and varietal typicity.
